Flying into Washington D.C., my home for the next few months felt like a dream. Looking down from the plane reminiscing on my first time out here in DC just a few short months ago. I came out here in June on a school expedition and just fell in love with the city! The thought of me living and working out here seemed like nothing more than a dream but here I am months later in my cozy apartment. It is so fun living in a building amongst other like-minded people my age, many of whom I work with. I have already made some great friends.
Heritage Foundation is by far the best internship program in DC! I have only been here a week and already I have learned so much. I work in domestic policy with education and have already attended a few events. I love the people I work with. I work in an area known as the ‘bull pen’ because I am in a room with 6 other interns but it’s so fun! I am still learning how to use the metro system but I am lucky to live right next door to work so I don’t use the metro system too often.
